What happens if I add a vehicle that is registered on a toll agency account (e.g., FasTrak, E-Zpass, SunPass, etc.) with NextPass?
If you add a vehicle to NextPass that is already registered with another toll agency account like FasTrak, E-ZPass, or SunPass, here are the steps you need to take to get tolling with NextPass:
1. Deactivate your previous tolling account or remove the vehicle from your previous tolling account to avoid potential double charges.
2. Remove your toll tag/transponder from your vehicle. This is crucial, as NextPass won’t work properly if there’s an existing toll tag/transponder in the vehicle, even if it’s in the glove compartment or trunk.
3. Start using NextPass for your toll payments. As you drive through free-flowing toll lanes, the tolling agency will capture an image of your license plate, and NextPass will process the payment automatically.
Remember, NextPass is designed for use on free-flowing toll roads and doesn’t work with gated toll booths. Also, be aware that toll charges may take up to 30 days to appear on your NextPass account after your trip, but most appear within 24 hours.
By switching to NextPass, you’ll enjoy benefits such as no prepayments, no monthly subscriptions, and the ability to manage multiple vehicles without the need for physical toll tags/transponders.
