What are MTA crossing credits?

Vehicles using NextPass and entering the Congestion Relief Zone during peak periods via one of the four tolled entries—Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, Queens-Midtown Tunnel, or Hugh L. Carey Tunnel—are eligible for a credit that reduces their toll amount. All toll rates and crossing credits are determined by the MTA.

1. Credit Amounts:

  • Passenger Vehicles: Up to $3 credit
  • Motorcycles: Up to $1.50 credit
  • Small Trucks and Charter Buses: Up to $7.20 credit
  • Large Trucks and Tour Buses: Up to $12 credit

2. Peak Periods: The credit is only applicable during peak periods when traffic is heaviest. This helps manage congestion and encourages the use of public transportation during these times.

3. Overnight Toll Reduction: No crossing credits are offered overnight. During these hours, the congestion pricing toll is already reduced by 75% from the peak period toll, making additional credits unnecessary.

*Please note, NextPass customers will receive the MTA crossing credit in the form of a refund back to their original form of payment.
