If I am driving between Brooklyn and the FDR Drive using the Williamsburg Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, or Brooklyn Bridge, will I be charged a toll?

Vehicles traveling between the FDR Drive and Brooklyn crossings are subject to a toll if the trip involves using Manhattan streets rather than staying exclusively on highways.

Tolling Criteria:

  • Williamsburg Bridge and Manhattan Bridge: Vehicles traveling between the FDR Drive and the Williamsburg Bridge or the Manhattan Bridge will be tolled because these routes require driving on Manhattan streets, which are within the tolled zone.
  • Brooklyn Bridge: Vehicles can travel from the FDR Drive to the Brooklyn Bridge, and from the Brooklyn Bridge to the FDR Drive northbound, without incurring a toll. This is because these routes do not require entering the Manhattan street grid.

Specific Routes:

  • FDR Drive to Brooklyn Bridge: No toll is charged if you travel from the FDR Drive to the Brooklyn Bridge, as this route avoids the tolled zone.
  • Brooklyn Bridge to FDR Drive Northbound: No toll is charged if you travel from the Brooklyn Bridge to the FDR Drive northbound, as this route also avoids the tolled zone.
  • Brooklyn Bridge to FDR Drive Southbound: A toll is charged if you travel from the Brooklyn Bridge to the FDR Drive southbound, because this route requires entering the Manhattan street grid at Pearl Street, which is within the tolled zone.
